Ir. Winaryo Suyono, M.Sc. completed his Bachelor of Agriculture degree (in Agronomy, Specializing in Plant Cultivation) in 1982 at Gadjah Mada University, and Master degree with specialization in Natural Resources and Environmental Management at IPB University in 1997. He has attended some trainings, such as auditing organic farming training in the Netherlands, textile certification in Vietnam, FSC-CoC audit in the Netherlands, textile certification in Turkey, Eurepgap audit in Germany, organic audit in China, textile certification in Vietnam, Globalgap certification in Philippines, IFCC (Indonesian Forestry Certification Cooperation) audit in Indonesia, ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) audits in Indonesia, 4C (Common Code for the Coffee Community) certification in Vietnam, etc.
While working at Indonesian Coffee and Cocoa Research Institute, Winaryo pioneered the development of organic Arabica coffee in Central Aceh and received an organic certificate from Skal (Netherlands) in 1992. In 1999, Winaryo became Skal (Netherlands) Inspector for all countries in Southeast Asia ( ASEAN), China, Korea and Taiwan. Furthermore, Winaryo started the Skal International branch office in Jakarta in 2003 which is changed its name to Control Union Certifications Indonesia in 2006 – 2020. Besides being an inspector/auditor/certifier for the European Union organic program, NOP-USDA, JAS (Japan), Winaryo was also an auditor/certifier for the EurepGAP/GlobalGAP certification program, FSC-CoC (Forest Stewarship Council – Chain of Custody), UTZ Certified, 4C (Common Code for the Coffee Community), GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), OE (Organic Exchange), OCS (Organic Content Standard), GRS (Global Recycle Standard), RCS (Recycle Content Standard), Bird Friendly, C.A.F.É. Practices (Starbucks), SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) / Sedex (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange), SVLK (Timber Legality Verification System) and VLO (Verification of Legal Origin, VLO – Id 29112008).
Winaryo has ever participated in professional institutions, including in the ministry of agriculture, organic food task force (2001 – 2017), and the 65-11 Technical Commission (2019 – 2021). He was also actively participated in some international agendas and institutions, including as a consultant to the World Bank (1999-2000), the GLOBALGAP standard development team on tea (2007), the UTZ Chain of Custody standard development team on tea (2009) and a member of the UTZ Certified Standard Committee (Netherlands) representing Asia and other certification bodies (2011 – 2017).
Winaryo is also active in publishing scientific papers in some popular journals, at seminars and conferences both nationally and internationally.
Currently, Winaryo becomes the Director of PT. SDS Indonesia and CERES GmbH Country Manager, Germany, for Indonesia, Timor Leste and Papua New Guinea.
